Bukit Tinggi

The last time I went to Bukit Tinggi was in year 2008. This time, we brought 2 little cuties to enjoy the cozy weather. I'm not sure whether I'm getting old or not feeling well that day, the road is so winding and really feel like throwing out. Even my son also not feeling well that day, he vomit 2-3 hours later (>-<)

Anyhow, we still manage to visit the Japanese village. We even dine in at Ryo Zan Tei Japanese Restaurant as our little girl cry for hunger. OK, we had order 2 chawan mushi, 1 kid set, 1 rice and 1 mineral water, guess how much we had to pay? RM 66++ It's really expensive, the food is not worth for the price. The rice that we ordered is not a Japanese rice and the food taste bad. Make sure you have enough cash to pay for the bill as they only accept Cash.

The good thing about this restaurant is nice scenery, that's all...

KL Bird Park

Last week brought 2 kids to KL Bird Park. My son was excited when he saw the first bird in the park, keep saying bird, bird, bird and don't even want to move forward.

Actually this is my first time to KL Bird Park after been staying in KL since birth, hahaha... most of the birds are not in cage, they are free to walk and fly but of course there is a net cover the whole bird park, otherwise they will never back.

However, be aware the bird manure as it's every where. I even see the parrots fly over my head and drop its poo poo on the lady's head who just walk in front of me. Please bring your hat or cap if possible.

For the admission fees, if you have Aeon card, you will get RM 5 discount for 1 person ticket upon present your card. So you just pay RM 20. Children aged 3-12 years old need to pay RM 12. For further information, you can visit their website http://www.klbirdpark.com/

Canteen Food at Kerteh Plant

Last month, I went to Kerteh plant for system training. Since our plant is far away from the town, we got to dine in at our canteen which is mainly cater for the Korean expatriate. The canteen serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and it's FREE. I can say this is the best Korean food that I had tasted so far. Tuesday is a special day where they serve BBQ and soju for dinner. Pork & soju are free flow.

My Korean colleagues told me that I must take at least 3 glass of soju to show respect. Well, 3 small cup is fine for me (^-^)

Wild Durian

Have you see the wild durian before? It's my first time to see it and found in Semenyih, the size is as big as my palm. Of course, they also have bigger size of wild durian but the seller told me if you don't know how to taste this wild durian, it smells like cockroach. If you like it then taste like wine.

We taste it, it's creamy and sweet. It's just that the durian is small and the seed is big. So you won't feel filling although you are eating 7 durians.

KGB - Mid Valley

When we shop around Mid Valley, found there is KGB (LG flr- next to Ninja Burger) which is new for us. So we decided to try their burger. We had ordered Bobcat - Grill Chicken and Bash (Beef) with set (fried and soft drinks). If you want to order set, you got to pay extra RM 5.90 on top of the burger price. For example, BobCat price at RM 15.90 + set RM 5.90 = RM 21.80

It's not cheap compared to McDonald, according to their menu, the chicken is never frozen while the beef is 100% steak grade Australian Grass Fed. For the fries, you can choose Spicy Cajun Fries, Salt & Pepper, Herbed or Malt Vinegar. We had ordered Spicy Cajun Fries and it tastes good.

Anmum Price will Increase in September 2014

Last week I went to Aeon Big to buy Anmum Essential step 3 and 4. Initially I plan to buy 4 cans of step 3 but the promoter told me that September will increase price for about 5-6%, advise me to buy more before the price rise again. So, I bought half dozen. I knew this promoter for a year and every time there is any Anmum promotion, she will text me. Therefore, I believer her word is quite trust worthy.

Currently I buy at promotion price RM 74.90 for step 3, if increase 6% then I got to pay RM 79.40 Huh... although few ringgit increase but if we buy in bulk, it's not few ringgit, it's RM 10-20 that we need to pay. Life is getting hard this time.

Kinetic Sand

My husband show me the video of the kinetic sand and intend to buy for our daughter. We found it in Ikano but the price is RM 150 for 1 or 2 kgs but it's not kinetic sand. So we decide to look around and check on the price. Finally, my husband bought it at RM 200 for 5 kgs with free sand castle mould.

Here is the comparison between the kinetic sand with others which I found online
My daughter love it so much. Although they said leaves no residue but we still found some on her leg. The best part of this sand is easy to clean up.

Pun Chun Noodle House - Ara Damansara

I believe those who travel to North of Peninsular Malaysia, sure will drop by Bidor for their famous duck noodles. Recently, my colleague told me that we also can have the duck noodles at Ara Damansara which is the branch of Pun Chun.

So, we decided to have lunch in Pun Chun Noodle House. We are lucky to park just in front of the restaurant, normally it's hard to find parking during lunch hour. All of us order the famous "Duck Drumstick Mee (Dry)" - RM 8.80 (big). Wow, it's really delicious.

(Photo extract from their facebook)

Do you know that their barley is green colour? until my colleague told me it's pandan which make the drinks look green. Arh.. I should order barley too. Never mind, still have chance to visit this restaurant again.

If you feel like eating duck noodles, here is their address:
H-G-21, Block H, Jalan PJU 1A/3, Taipan 2 Damansara, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Zumba Fitness

I believe lots of people heard about Zumba , therefore I would like to give myself a try. Recently I had signed up Zumba fitness and toning which is near to my office. At least I can skip the traffic as everyone is rushing home the same time as me. Staying back and exercise for an hour, it just took me 35 minutes to reach home.

The Zumba class is twice per week, costs me RM 400 for 1 term (each term is 2 months). Besides that I need to pay the deposit RM 130 which is refundable providing I give them 1 month notice, else the deposit will be forfeited. Some people might asking me, don’t you think it’s expensive for RM 200/month, might as well go to xxx fitness by paying RM 100++ and I can go for different type of classes. I know and understand but I don’t want to commit myself to sign up for one year membership. I had experience for 6 months commitment, but I was pregnant after 4 months class and been wasted for the balance of 2 months fees.

Hope I could follow the pace of Zumba since I’m a beginner. As a gentle reminder, warm up is a must before the class started. This is because I had twisted my foot and need to skip a class last week, arhhh…

Kansas City Steaks & Ribs – Setiawalk

I had bought Kansas City Steaks & Ribs, Setiawalk cash voucher worth RM 120 from Living social. After purchase the cash voucher, I started to regret because I found a lot of people is giving bad comment about this restaurant in terms of food and services.

Since the comment said hard to make reservation on weekend, so I decided to make it on Friday night. Understand that the restaurant is located at 1st floor but it took me some time to search for it. It was not crowded that night, only 3-4 tables.

We had ordered their signature pork ribs, pizza, starter and drinks. Pizza taste good but the price is slightly higher as the shrimp is too small, Domino pizza give bigger size compared to them. The pork ribs need improvement because it’s too hard to chew, not tender enough.

In terms of services, I found they are quite good, not as bad as others comment in the facebook. This dinner costs me RM 170+ and still find it’s expensive after deduct the cash voucher. ;p

Charity Bazaar & Food Fair, OUG

Yesterday I brought my family to charity bazaar & food fair at OUG to support Rumah Kanak-kanak Angels, Kuala Lumpur. 72 style yoga studio had organized this event for few years and finally, I able to make it this time.

The event started at 9am but we reach there about 12noon, still can see lots of people there. Glad to see that as people is supporting and helping the children.  Small stage been set up for performance but I miss the belly dance performance. Anyhow, still have some one singing at the stage and dancing performance from Rumah Kanak-kanak Angel. Other than food stalls, there are toys, candy, clothes, souvenir, stationery and etc. I even met my old schoolmate there as her company is sponsoring to this event as well.

Here is the thing that I bought from the bazaar.

La Bodega - Spanish Cuisine at Empire

Company had organised a dinner at La Bodega at Empire Subang Jaya. They had given us 2 type of menu, the drinks menu have lots of choice (cocktails, mocktails, beers, liquor and etc) while the food menu is just a piece of cardboard. Obviously, people come here for the drinks and tapas (snack).

You can visit their website http://www.bodega.com.my/labodega/

We had ordered 2 paella (rice), 1 pasta and different type of tapas which I can't remember how many sets and types been ordered, just keep ordering until we feel full, hahaha... company is paying the bills, so we don't care much on the price. I had ordered Fruity Margarita which recommend by my colleague, she said this drink had very mild alcohol. I taste it and it's goooood...

Fitflop Sales at Oasis Village, Ara Damansara

My colleague told me that there is Fitflop sales at Oasis Village and ask me to join, see whether can get any cheap stuff there. We went there during lunch break, the first thing we do is checking the price, hahaha... found it's not cheap although after 40% discount = RM 199

We still found a lot of people is buying the flip flop although at that price because they said it's comfortable and durable. For me, I opt for cheaper sandal - Sanuk costs RM 39. If you buy 3 pairs, it will be RM 100. So, my colleague bought 2 pairs and I got a pair. I just pay RM 34 instead of RM 39 (^-^)

It made from Yoga mats.

Zoo Negara - School Holiday

On the second week of school holiday, we brought our kids to Zoo Negara. Why Zoo? Because my little girl told me the size of the elephant is like the size of her palm. So, I think it's time to open up her eyes to see the real animals. You can visit this website http://www.zoonegaramalaysia.my/index.htm

It's a sunny day during our visit and lots of people, parking almost full. Guess what, I never been to zoo for the last 20 years and my perception on national zoo should be poor maintenance, dirty with littering and skinny animals. Surprisingly, the zoo quite well maintain, at least all the animals are well feed and strong.

Little girl holding hand with her cousin and enjoying their sightseeing. Whatever cousin said, she just follow, monkey see, monkey do. My girl born in year of tiger so I asked her to take picture with it, she refused and said "cannot, later the tiger will eat me", hahaha... don't you think she's cute. We don't have time to see any show but lucky enough to see the peacock opening its feathers. After seeing so many animals, I asked her which part that she likes the most, she told me the farm. Well, she still prefer tame and small size animals
 (^-^)

Tanjung Sepat - School Holiday

Today is first day of school and I expect heavy traffic but surprisingly, the traffic is good today. Just took 1.5 hours to send my kid to Sri Petaling and heading to work in PJ.

Guess what I did for last 2 weeks school holiday. 1st weekend, we bring our kids to Tanjung Sepat and expect to have a fruitful trip. Unfortunately, we had lost our way, by the time we reach Ah Hock Seafood Bat Kut Teh, it's already 2pm and "sudah habis". Huh, so we are heading to lover bridge there for lunch. It's quite reasonable price, we had ordered steam fish, 2 vege, 1 fried squid, 1 soup, 1 lala which cater for 4 adults and 1 kid, the bill come out with RM 130+.

Initially we want to visit dragon fruit farm and durian farm but seriously we don't know where we are. Even with the GPS but it's not reliable when we are in need. End up we went to Kuan Wellness Eco Park, just let the kids visit the small farm with RM2/entry, kids entry are free. The rabbits are free to run everywhere inside the farm, and their poo poo also everywhere, my little boy had step few of it. But it's ok, there is a cafe at Eco park, just let the kids run around the grass and the poo poo gone, hahaha...

Here is the photo taken at lover bridge

Pasar Malam at Taman Putra Prima, Puchong

Yesterday got a message from my husband saying that there is a pasar malam at our housing area, just in front of the KFC hostel. So, I went there for a walk after work. It's not a big pasar malam but at least it's a good start.

There is about 10-15 stalls, you can find raw chicken, vegetables and mainly food stall. Mostly operated by Malays and found only one Chinese stall who is selling power bank. Food price is reasonable, if you are staying nearby, probably can drop by to buy your dinner or supper.

I did chat with the food stall owner and they said normally they open the stall at Taman Mas pasar malam on Wednesday, and today (Monday) is a grand opening for Taman Putra Prima pasar malam. Hope this pasar malam work well and attract more resident, otherwise I'm afraid it will be missing again if the business not that good. ;p

Yesterday I bought this "Fruits Garden" at RM 33.60 and there is Cash Voucher RM 2 printed in the receipt with 7 days validity. Too bad I can't use the Cash Voucher on the same day, the validity is from 23/5/14-29/5/14.

Home Town - Batu Pahat

It's been 2 years that I never back to my home town in Batu Pahat, Johor. Last weekend, I went back with my mom and sister to pay a visit to my grandma.

When we reach the Batu Pahat (BP) town, we ate Kueh Chap for lunch. Taste wise is ok as heard that this is the famous Keuh Chap in BP. Total 4 of us are enjoying the meal and the bill come out is RM 32.40 which I think is cheap compared to KL.

Next to the Kueh Chap shop, I saw lots of people is queuing for Char Kueh Tiao. When we look at the price list. Small - RM 2.50, Big - RM 3.00

Wow, I was surprise that I still can find this price for Char Kueh Tiao. So we order 2 packets (Big) and what's inside the kueh tiao is bean sprouts, clam (si ham) and egg, this is what we pay for the price. Found that they are using lard to fry the kueh tiao, no wonder it smell so good and taste good too. How I wish they can move to my office area so I can order cheap food everyday, hahaha..

The next morning, we go for Malay food which is nearby to the wet market in town. We had ordered Lontong (RM 3.50), Mee Rebus (RM 4.00) and Satay (RM 0.50/pce). Huh, still cheap compare to KL. For the Lontong, I still prefer the one that located inside the wet market but unfortunately their Lontong is selling like hot cakes, sudah habis. Next time need to wake up early ;p

Fixed Deposit

Got this leaflet in The Star newspaper, where I found the FD rate is slightly higher than the other bank. For those people who have some extra cash money and don’t feel like doing any investment, probably you can save into Fixed Deposit (FD) and OCBC might be your choice if you found the rate is good. The minimum placement is RM 10,000 and you can choose 6 months (3.6% p.a) or 12 months (4.00% p.a).

For further information, I think it’s better that you visit the nearest OCBC bank or contact them directly. Well, sometimes leaflet looks very attractive but when you ask further, there is a lot of terms & conditions ;p

Full Paying Patient (FPP) at Putrajaya Hospital

I had delivered my first child at private hospital and it costs me RM 6k+ (Caesarean + 4 bedded ward). When I get my 2nd pregnancy in year 2012 (delivered in year 2013), I plan to deliver at government hospital with "privatised" service. So, I opt for FPP at Putrajaya Hospital.

For the 1st seven month pregnancy, I still visit my gynaecology clinic at Puchong and request my Dr to write a letter to Putrajaya Hospital for FPP. From 8 month pregnancy onward, I do all my check up at Putrajaya. Check up costs is about RM 110, which I found slightly higher than my gynaecology clinic (RM 90).

I gave birth naturally for my 2nd child and it costs me RM 1.7k under FPP program. The stitch is done by Dr. (5 minutes) instead of nurse/trainee as I heard that nurse/trainee will take up 30-45 mins for stitching.

For FPP, normally they will give you single bed but subject to availability. Else they will provide 2 bedded ward but still charge you the same price as single bed. It's OK for me to take 2 bedded ward, as I will not stay long in the hospital, and motivate me to get down from bed and walk, so that I could discharge on next day.

You can visit this site http://www.hpj.gov.my/portalv11/index.php/en/full-paying-patient-fpp

GST on 1/4/2015

Understand that GST is going to be imposed by next year 1st April 2015. I just read the news this morning, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan had done the survey for 689 consumer items to study the effect of GST on their pricing.

10% or 73 items will be expensive
48% or 329 items will have no change on price
42% or 287 items are expected to be cheaper

I wonder what are the items will be expensive, all mommy got to get ready for next year GST. Hope it won't burden the mid income family. :p

Make your own lunch

Eating outside sometimes quite pricey especially when there is no hawker stall around the office area, force to dine in restaurant and easily costs each person RM 10-15. In order to save costs, I will make my own lunch.

Normally I will prepare my lunch box a day earlier. It's very easy, just cook macaroni and let it cold, store in container and put inside the fridge. Meantime, I will clean the lettuce (for salad) and store in container, and put inside the fridge as well.

The next morning, get these 2 containers (macaroni & salad), salad dressing and mayo. Bring these 4 together to office and mix yourself. (^-^)

Tesco Shop Online

Have you try Tesco shop online (eshop.tesco.com.my)? I had shop online 2 weeks ago, Tesco will charge RM 10 delivery, so you are encourage to buy those promotion items.

What I did is I will select the promotion items and compare with the normal price that I paid. Eg. Kleenex toilet rollx20s = RM 26.90 and Tesco promotion = RM 23.90. I save RM3/pack.

If I buy 3 packs and I save RM 9, then I will go for online shop as I will buy other promotion items, end up I will save around RM 18-20. I pay the delivery costs at RM 10, but I still save for RM 8-10.

The pro of shopping online is buying according to my budget and list. If I shop at Tesco, my shopping list shows 10 items but end up buying 20 items.

Check the items when delivery at your door step, you have the right to reject if rotten or expired. If everything is ok, just present your debit card/credit card to make payment. (^-^)

I had calculated each box will be RM 59.40 after RM42 rebate.
As a mother of two, I am getting price sensitive due to the price hike.
Recently, I had done my hair rebonding nearby my housing area in Puchong and it costs me RM130 (shoulder length). I found it is cheaper compare to the saloon that I normally visit in Happy Garden, at least 35% cheaper. The outcome is good and I even request for special treatment by adding RM30.

If you are staying nearby Puchong, probably you could visit this Saloon. The price I had asked but might subject to change:

Ladies cut only = RM 15
Children cut (primary) = RM 8
Children cut (secondary – male) = RM 12
Children cut (secondary – female) = RM 15
